Eastern Expressway Industrial Zones Forum 2024 will take place in Quang Ninh

Eastern Expressway Industrial Zones Forum 2024, organized by Business Forum Magazine of VCCI under the direction of four cities and provinces, will take place on December 12, 2024, in Quang Ninh. The event aims to promote investment and unlock the potential of industrial parks in Vietnam’s Eastern Expressway Economic Corridor, with a theme “Fueling global smart manufacturing and supply chains through regional connectivity”, aligning with the Cooperation Agreement signed on July 28, 2022.

The situation of industrial zones (IZs) in the eastern expressway axis provinces

The provinces along the eastern expressway axis include Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, which have 87 economic zones and industrial parks (as of July 2023). Hai Duong has 24 IZs with a total area of about 4,508 ha; Hai Phong has Dinh Vu – Cat Hai economic zone and 25 IZs with a total area of ​​12,702 ha; Quang Ninh has 5 Economic Zone (including three border-gate economic zones and two coastal zones) and 16 IZs, with a total area of ​​about 388,671 ha; Hung Yen has 17 IZs with an area of ​​4,395.43 ha.

The total number of IZs in 4 provinces and cities is 139 areas, an increase of 60 IZs with the total area of IZs is 59,441ha, an increase of 23,930ha, which is nearly double.

Fueling global smart manufacturing and supply chains through regional connectivity

On 28 July 2024, in accordance with the Economic Connection Agreement pertaining to the eastern expressway axis, which has been ratified by VCCI alongside the four provinces and cities of Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and Hung Yen, the objective is to establish a connection to the global smart manufacturing supply chain. Under the guidance of VCCI and the respective People’s Committees of these four provinces and cities, the Business Forum Magazine, in collaboration with the International Relations Department of VCCI and the Management Boards of the Economic and IZs in these regions, will host the second consecutive Eastern Expressway Industrial Zones Forum.

The Eastern Highway Economic Corridor 2024 will focus on investigating the effective integration of IZs with the global smart manufacturing supply chain, assessing emerging industrial trends, evaluating policy frameworks, identifying investment opportunities, and exploring avenues for collaboration and development in the context of the evolving global economy. The objective of the forum is to promote collaboration in smart manufacturing between Vietnam and leading manufacturing nations, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and China which have already made investments and are expected to persist in their financial commitments in the foreseeable future to stimulate economic growth, improve the competitiveness of the industrial sector, and support sustainable development objectives.

Furthermore, the forum will address strategies for pursuing collaborative development opportunities and attaining mutually advantageous results within the present international landscape, particularly as global manufacturing investment trends increasingly consider Vietnam as a viable location for the establishment of global supply chains.
